Eligibility
- The competition is open to anyone.
- Entrants aged under 18 must have parental or guardian consent before entering.
- Entrants must be the original photographer and own full rights to the photos they submit.
- Photos must not infringe on anyone else’s rights, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
- Employees of Energise Web Design Limited and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Bonus entries: Want to increase your chances? Post your entry photo to your own social media with the hashtag #NorthlandPhotoComp and tag one of our profiles for one bonus entry per platform. Bonus entries are optional and do not affect your eligibility.
Geographic Scope
Photos must be taken within the Northland region of New Zealand, defined as the area from Mangawhai north.
How to Enter

- By submitting a photo, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
- Each entrant may submit a maximum of 5 photos.
- There is no entry fee.
Photo Requirements
Content
- Photos must be high-quality and suitable for print and digital reproduction.
- Photos must be the original work of the entrant.
- Photos must not contain watermarks, signatures, borders, or frames.
- Photos must not contain inappropriate, offensive, defamatory, or illegal content.
- Photos must not be AI-generated. Minor editing and colour correction are acceptable, but heavily manipulated or composite images may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
Technical Specifications
- Accepted file formats: JPEG or PNG
- Minimum resolution: 3000 pixels on the longest edge
- Maximum file size: 10 MB
- Photos must be in landscape or portrait orientation (no collages)
People in Photos
- Entrants must have obtained permission from any person who is recognisable in the photo.
- For photos featuring children under 18, permission must be obtained from a parent or guardian.
- Entrants are responsible for obtaining and retaining evidence of such permissions.
Prizes
- First prize: $500
- Second prize: $250
- 3x Spot prizes: A Northland Monopoly set
Prize money will be paid by bank transfer to a New Zealand bank account within 30 days of winner confirmation.
Winners are responsible for any tax obligations arising from their prize. We recommend seeking independent advice if you are unsure of your tax position.
Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable for other goods or services.
Winner Notification and Announcement
- Winners will be notified by email within 7 days of judging.
- Winners must respond to confirm acceptance within 14 days of notification. If a winner does not respond within this period, we reserve the right to select an alternative winner.
- Winners’ names and winning photos may be published on our website and social media channels to announce results. By entering, you consent to this publicity.
Judging and Winner Selection
- Entries will be judged by a panel selected by Energise Web Design Limited.
- Photos will be assessed on creativity, visual impact, technical quality, and relevance to promoting Northland as a destination.
- The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Entries that do not comply with these terms may be disqualified.
Rights You Give Us
By entering this competition, you grant Energise Web Design Limited a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide licence to:
- Use, reproduce, publish, and display your photos in travel guides, websites, brochures, advertising, social media, and other promotional materials
- Edit, crop, resize, or adapt your photos as needed for these purposes
- Sub-license your photos to tourism partners, local businesses, and regional promotional organisations for the purpose of promoting Northland
- Use your photos without providing credit or attribution
This licence continues indefinitely and survives the conclusion of the competition.
You Retain Ownership
You retain full ownership and copyright of your photos. This licence does not prevent you from using, selling, or licensing your photos elsewhere.
No Obligation to Use Photos
- We are under no obligation to use any submitted photo.
- We may remove any photo from our materials at any time and for any reason.
- No royalties, fees, or other payments will be made for any use of photos under this licence.
Indemnification
By entering, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Energise Web Design Limited, its directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your entry or participation in the competition
- Any breach of these terms and conditions
- Any claim that your photo infringes the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party
- Any claim from a person depicted in your photo
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Energise Web Design Limited accepts no responsibility or liability for:
- Lost, late, misdirected, corrupted, or incomplete entries
- Technical failures, including website outages, upload errors, or data loss
- Any loss or damage arising from participation in this competition
- Any use of winning photos by third parties beyond our reasonable control
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under New Zealand law, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Disqualification
We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that:
- Breaches these terms and conditions
- Contains inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
- Infringes the intellectual property or other rights of any third party
- We reasonably believe to be fraudulent or deceptive
Right to Cancel or Modify
We reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the competition at any time if circumstances beyond our reasonable control make it necessary, including technical failures, legal issues, or insufficient entries. In such cases, we will endeavour to notify entrants and handle the situation fairly.
Privacy
By entering this competition:
- You consent to us collecting and storing your name, email address, and any other information you provide with your entry.
- You give us permission to add your contact details to our mailing list for local updates, newsletters, and information about future promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- We will not sell or share your personal information with unrelated third parties.
- Your information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
Governing Law
This competition is governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from or in connection with this competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
